Couples seeking to have their marriage validated or “Blessed” in the Catholic Church are encouraged to call the church office to set up an appointment to review the paperwork required.  This is a simple and beautiful way to solidify a civil marriage in the sacrament of holy matrimony as well as enable the couple to return to full  communion with the Catholic Church. Individuals seeking an annulment from a broken marriage are encouraged to call the church office to set up an appointment to review the Archdiocesan guidelines for submittal of a case to the Tribunal.  The Catholic Church teaches that marriage is, by God’s plan, an enduring and exclusive partnership between a man and a woman for giving and receiving of love and for the procreation and education of children. An annulment does not deny that a real relationship existed, nor does it imply that the relationship was entered into with ill will or moral fault.  In addition, the children of a marriage which has been annulled, do not become illegitimate.  Rather, a declaration of nullity by a Church court is a statement that the relationship fell short of at least one of the elements considered essential for a binding, lifelong union.
